Happy Birthday to me!

Sean is so great. For my birthday he got me a really cute Bud Light Beach bag I'd been eying in the Bud Shop Catalog. He also got me a huge gift certificate to Seasons Spa, so I can disappear to the spa for several hours. I can't wait to go! On the crappy side, Nathan is sick today. Sean took him to the Urgent Care center because I think he has an ear infection. Hopefully that's all it is and after 24 hours of antibiotics he'll be feeling much better.

mother's day present

The kids were so cute for mothers day. Sean took them shopping and he asked what they thought I wanted for Mother's Day. They thought for a while and then Emma said, "Dad, Mom needs some friends." For those of you that don't know, the kids call their stuffed animals their friends, so she was telling Sean that I needed a stuffed animal or two. Sean said it was so cute he just couldn't say no, so my newest friends are a duck and an owl. They really are cute. Sean also got me some beautiful flowers and a calla lily plant.

4 months old

Megan had her 4 month check-up today. Everything went well, and she's still growing. She is now 13 pounds 4 ounces and 24 1/2 inches long. She had to get 3 shots and one oral vaccine. She hated the shots and has been running a mild fever, but that is an expected side effect, so we're not worried yet. I can't believe 4 months have gone by already. I am starting to get back into shape finally. Sean and I have both joined weight watchers. I've lost almost 10 pounds since joining on March 31st. Sean has only been doing it for 2 1/2 weeks, but he's already lost 6 pounds. We're both hoping to lose a lost more. Since having Megan I've lost almost 40, but I don't count all of that since a lot of it was just from being pregnant. Hopefully by the time everyone sees us again we're going to look fabulous!

this weekend

Saturday we had a big barbeque with a lot of friends and their families. The kids loved playing with everyone.

Today Sean took the Emma and Nathan to the zoo while I had a mom's club meeting at the house. Emma was in charge of the camera, and she took some awesome pictures. Of course there are still some pictures of the ground and a tree, but overall I'm quite impressed! Emma took all but the last one.

And now some pictures of Megan from this past week.

chicago trip

ok, we've been back for a couple of days, but it's been crazy, so I finally have time to post some pictures.
On Monday I took the kids to a park downtown. They had two huge fountains that all the local kids were playing in. Emma and Nathan ran around like crazies, and Megan slept the whole time.

They both ended up soaking wet, but they had a great time.
Tuesday we didn't do much since we had to switch hotels and it rained all afternoon and evening. We also went to visit my family Tuesday evening, and I went to the hospital to see my cousin Linda. Thankfully she is just fine again. Here is a picture of our room at the House of Blues Hotel, which is where we stayed Sunday and Monday night.

Wednesday we went downtown to Navy Pier. Nathan rode the ferris wheel with dad, but Emma was too scared. Then they both rode the carousel. They loved the ride on the subway train, and of course Megan slept through most of it again.

Chicago

For those that don't know we had to take an unexpected trip to Chicago. We found out Friday that Sean needed to go to a work thing in Chicago today and tomorrow. We decided the kids and I would tag along to visit my family and just get out for some fun. We are staying downtown and so far the kids are having a great time. I forgot to bring my cable to connect the camera to the computer, so all the pictures will have to wait until I get home. There are so many fun things to do downtown that I've never done in all the years of visiting family in the suburbs up here, so we are taking a couple eaxtra days to be tourists. Look forward to lots of pictures later in the week. I've already gone a little crazy taking pics of the kids!

Happy Mother's Day

Ok, so I'm a day late, but we spent yesterday traveling, so I didn't have any time to post this then.
I just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in our life. You are all very important to us and we love you dearly. Hopefully you had a wonderful day yesterday. Love you guys!

valet parking

Maybe it's because I was not a privileged child and therefore have very limited exposure to valet parking, but whatever the reason, I hate valet parking. Don't get me wrong I love the convenience of it, but as a mom of 3 when we go on a trip our car is full of stuff, and inevitably we forget something in the car when we unload. Which was also difficult because the hotel we are staying in had a guy that did that for us too. Anyway, now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get what I need out of my car. Do I call the garage from our room and have them bring the car down and I just drive it around the block, get what I need and bring it back to the valet stand? Or do I go down there and get my keys and have them tell me where the car is? For those of you that often use valet this probably seems silly, but it's just more of a pain for me than a help. Clearly I'm not cut out to live the high life!

3 month pics

Here is a slideshow the proofs from Megan's 3 month pictures. They are all so cute, even the one's where she is making a silly face!

Megan's Christening

We had Megan's Christening on Sunday. Even though we are not great about going to church all the time it is still important to me to have all the kids baptized. We have a christening gown in my family that was made by my grandmother for my aunt Patty in 1948, and every baby in our family has been baptized in it since. I love this family tradition and I hope that someday my grandchildren can be baptized in it.

baby chicks

My cousin owns a preschool, and this past week they hatched baby chicks. She had to bring them home for the weekend, so Friday we went down so the kids could see them. They were so excited, but also kind of freaked out by them.
