and so it begins

The sickness that is. I put Emma and Nathan on the bus this morning and came back in and sat down to drink my coffee. Megan got up around 9 and shortly after the phone rang and it was school telling me Emma was in the nurses office complaining of a headache and had a low (99.6) fever. They said I should come get her since she didn't seem well at all, and a temp of 100 or higher requires the kids go home. So I got everyone dressed and drove the 5 minutes to school, and by the time I got there, Emma looked terrible. I think she really did get worse since I had talked to the nurse. She shivered the whole way home and kept saying how cold she was. She felt pretty warm to me, so I'm sure her fever is climbing, but she says she is really cold. She said her tummy hurts a little, but not bad. She looks terrible and i can tell feels even worse. She's watching a movie in her room, but I'm sure the damage is already done and we are all going to catch whatever she has. With all the media attention on the flu being so bad already, it's hard not to wonder if that is what she has, but unless her fever gets severely high, or she comes up with other symptoms/problems I don't really think it's worth it to call or take her to the doctor.
There is going to be lots of hand washing and laundry in the house for the next week or so, and we will try to stay home and not expose anyone to this nastiness.

big news

Megan is using the pottty, and I don't just mean every once in a while, I mean all the time. Like she's wearing underwear like a real person and doesn't pee in them!!! YAHOOO!!! YIPPEEEEE!!! We all know my track record with posting stuff like this and then the kids having a relapse just to prove me wrong, which is why this time I waited until we'd be doing good for about 2 weeks. It really was like she just woke up one day and decided to use the potty instead of a diaper. We started off just leaving her naked, because in the past if she had anything on her butt, she'd pee in it, and that went really well for several days. If we had to leave the house we did put a diaper on her, which I know seems crazy and like it would confuse her, but she would always be dry when we'd get home. I finally decided one day to put underwear on her since she hadn't had any accidents at all without them, and she has done so good. We also finally took her out in public in her underwear while running errands this weekend. We made a couple of stops at the bathroom, and she had no accidents. She has also been wearing underwear at night and wakes up dry, which is amazing to me. Some nights she'll wake up and go when we check on her when we go to bed, but most nights she doesn't and she'll stay dry for the whole 12 hours she's sleeping.
I am so glad she is finally using the potty and likes doing it. We needed this!

lame-o

My life is officially so boring that I have nothing new to post about. We have done some fun things the past couple weekends, but nothing really note-worthy. Why didn't some one tell me life as a family can be so boring? lol! Life is so mundane and same old same old anymore. During the week the kids go to school and Sean goes to work, and I stay home, clean house, change diapers, feed kids, go to bed, and then wake up and do it all over again. The weekend we run errands, hang out at the house, work on projects around here, and play outside with the kids. Oh, so exciting, huh?
