Birthday Buddy

Emma has a new birthday buddy. One of the St. Louis Zoo elephants had her baby Sunday. The kids can't wait to go see her.

4 years old!

Emma was so excited her birthday finally arrived. She kept reminding me that it was her birthday and it would be all day long! I can't believe she's already 4, but I am looking forward to all the exciting things she's going to do in the next couple of years. Our next big step is pre-school, and I have just started the search for a good one in the area. Hopefully this will be an easy decision for us.

Happy Birthday Emma!

one month later

I can't believe Megan is already a month old. This month has been quite stressful and has gone by way too fast. I took Megan to the dr. yesterday for her check-up and she's doing fine. She weighs 9 pounds 8 ounces now, and is 21 1/2 inches long. I was thinking man she's getting big, but then I remembered she's still 6 ounces and one inch smaller than Nathan was when he was born! She still doesn't get this sleeping at night thing, but the dr. had some suggestions. Hopefully they will work, because Sean and I are very tired. He keeps saying he doesn't want anymore kids when she is up at 2am, but then later when she's sleeping on him I wonder how could you not want more of that?
I had my dr. appointment on Tuesday and I'm healing great and I've lost almost all the weight! That is good news because I had plenty of weight to lose before I got pregnant with Megan. Plus my friend Laura is getting married next year and I have to look good ina bridesmaid dress! I want people to see me and think, "Wow, I can't believe she has three kids!" :)
Tuesday was also Sean's birthday. He's now 34! I got him and his best friend Blues tickets for next Tuesday. They are only 7 rows off the ice, so I hope they are good seats!
Emma's birthday is this Sunday, and if everyone has recovered from this stomach bug that's been going around we will have a small get together to celebrate. I can't believe she's going to be 4. I still remember bringing her home from the hosptial. Now I have to start looking at pre-school for her. It's going to be good for both of us to have her in school and interacting socially with other kids. She's so introverted it's hard on both of us sometimes.
Hopefully things will calm down this next month.

An early Birthday present

We took Emma to get an early birthday present Friday night. Can you guess what it is?

Yep we got her ears pierced! She's been talking about it for months, and this past week she drove us crazy begging to go. We finally gave in, because she had chickened out twice before, and took her Friday. She was doing fine until they got out the little guns to do it. Then she freaked out and Sean had to hold her down to get it done. The girls that did it were great and very patient. They also gave her 4 suckers afterward. Emma was so excited once it was over. She kept looking at her ears in every mirror we passed. I think she's glad she did it, even though she had a major meltdown in the store. I think she looks really cute with them too!

new pictures

We finally got enough snow for the kids to go play in it. They had a great time!

Megan's first real bath. She actually liked it too!

week #3

It's hard to believe we had Megan 3 weeks ago already. Our days are busy just doing the basics. Some days seem really long, but time goes by so fast now. I think the more kids you have the faster time goes because there is more to keep you busy. Megan is still doing good. We are working on getting her to sleep more at night. So far we haven't had much success, but eventually we'll get there. We are still trying to decide if we want to have any more kids, but in the mean time I'm trying to enjoy every second of Megan just in case this is it. There is nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby snuggled up on your chest.
Sean's Dad and Debbie made it up last weekend to see Megan. The kids loved having papa around to play with. I think they get bored with Sean and I. We also ventured out to do some shopping for the first time as a whole family. It was nice to get out finally, and everyone behaved. We even got to have a decent dinner out. Of course Megan decided she wanted to eat as soon as my food arrived, but I'm used to that by now.

2 weeks old

Wow! Megan is already two weeks old. The last couple weeks of pregnancy took so long, and now time is going by too fast! Megan's first week of life was filled with so much craziness that at least last week things calmed down. Sean went back to work, and things pretty much went back to normal at home. Megan is still doing really good. She wants to eat all the time during the day, but the trade off is most nights we get 4-5 hours of solid sleep. Last night we had Heather and Paul and James and Beth and their kids over to watch the game. Megan slept through it all. What an exciting first Super Bowl!
Today Megan had another dr. appointment just to check her weight. She is up to a whole 8 pounds and 1 ounce, which is just over her birth weight. So things are going well. She goes back in two more weeks for another check up and her first round of shots.
We've been so busy we haven't had much time to take more pictures. I did get her birth announcements done, so you should all be getting those in the mail soon.
