sleeping

Ok, so I am very very hesitat to post this, but..... Jackson has been sleeping through the night for the past week! He did it two night in a row two weeks ago, and then went back to waking evey 3-4 hours at night, but since last Friday night he's been sleeping at least from 11-6, usually longer. Last night he went down at 9pm and didn't get up until after 7!!!! I felt bad he went so long without eating, but if he was hungry he would have woken up, right? He is such an amazingly good baby we can't believe it. Emma was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks old also, but I'm amazed once again. Plus he naps well, eats great, and very rarely cries. He makes me want 10 more just like him. I love sleep!

bedroom makeover

I finally finished our bedroom makeover that I've been working on since we moved in 3 years ago. Ok technically it is not finished because I want new curtains in there, but I can't find what I want yet, and the crown molding isn't up yet either. Other than that it is pretty much finished. Maybe I'll get a chair for in there some day, but it's not like I have something picked out to finish the look yet. Anyway here are the before and afters. The before pictures aren't that great because they were taken with our old camera right before it died.
Sorry the pictures are so big. Just click on them to view the whole thing. I don't have time to fix the setting to make them smaller right now. Sorry!

Megan is 2 today!

Today is Megan's second birthday, and I can't believe it. I almost don't know what to say about her. She is so darn cute it's ridiculous, and therefore often gets away with murder around here. She has zero interest in using the potty, and rather than make myself crazy trying to get her to use it, I'll just keep on changing diapers until she decides she is ready. I can already tell she's always going to do things on her terms and her timeline, so why bother banging my head against a wall trying to change her? She loves to talk, even though we aren't quite at complete sentences yet. Her talking often consists of her saying wahtever is in sight, which can get really annoying when trapped in the car with her for 6 hours and she just repeats the same 6 things over and over. She seemed so little until Jackson was born, and then we realized she really is growing up as much as we don't want to admit it. She is small for her age, but she is hitting all the developmental milestones and becoming insanely independent. I love watching her grow and discover new things daily. Being a parent is so amazing sometimes.
Because I'm a bad mommy there is no big birthday party planned. We will probably have my mom and possibly a few other close family member over for cake this weekend, but nothing major. Sean and I both agreed long ago that we were not going to have a huge party for our kids every year. It's a lot of work, and when they are little they don't get much out of it anyway, and then we end up with a ton of toys we don't need. We always do have cake and a small get together, and the cake is all the kids care about anyway.
And now for the pictures:

One month old

Oh my god, how is it possible that Jackson is already a month old? Time is going by way too fast, which makes me very sad since he is likely the last baby we'll have. How can I enjoy this time in Jackson's life if it is over before I know it? Anyway, I took him to the doctor for his checkup and he's doing great. He's already up to 10 pounds 2.5 ounces, so he's gaining more than enough weight. He's also started to sleep fairly well at night. He still wakes up every 3 hour on average, but he goes right back to sleep, which is enough for me at this point. I would love longer stretches of sleep at night, but for now I'm happy that he doesn't wake up to eat and then want to hang out for an hour before going back to sleep. Even though our life is even crazier now, Jackson fits into our family perfectly and we are so glad he's here!
I also wanted to add a comment to Katie about traveling so soon with Jackson. I know I would not have been able to take a trip like that when Emma or Nathan were only 4 weeks old. I was really uncomfortable for a good 6 weeks after having Emma and there would have been no way I could have sat in a car for that long. I didn't feel as bad after Nathan, but I probably still would not have wanted to go. I really can't believe how great I feel this time around. Of course I'm tired, but I'm not in any pain like I was after having Emma. I just wanted you to know everyone feels differently after having a baby, and I don't want you to be upset if you don't even feel like wearing real clothes for 6 weeks after your baby arrives. Good Luck and I'm waiting for the big announcement!

Road Trip

We had our first big road trip this weekend with Jackson. He did really great and cried very little, and it was a 6 hour drive each way. We went to Ohio for Sean's sister's wedding. She looked fabulous and had a great reception and we were glad to be able to be there. It was also great catching up with Sean's family that we only see a couple times a year, and everyone loved getting to meet Jackson. I will post pictures tomorrow after I've actually gotten some sleep. We stayed up much too late and did not get nearly enough sleep this weekend. Good night!
